KACHANOSKI: It is with love and great sadness that we announce the passing of our father, Louie Paul Kachanoski. Louie passed away peacefully with his family at his side, Sunday June 5, 2011 at the Souris hospital. Louie was born in Souris, Manitoba in 1923. He made his life in Souris where he met his wife, Ella. They were married in 1949 and raised seven children in the home he built. Ella predeceased Louie in 1994. He is survived by his children, Linda (Stuart) McDougall, Ivan (Patsy) Kachanoski, Connie (Paul) Rice, Beverly Kachanoski, Aldan (Lillian) Kachanoski, Kimberly Kachanoski, Kristine (Leo) Gauthier; four grandchildren, Penny, Jolene, Jared and Devon and six great grandchildren. Also surviving Louie is his twin sister, Lucy and his brother, Stanley. Dad was raised on the family farm in Souris. After leaving the farm he worked on the Transcanada Pipeline and then spent many years as a carpenter/contractor building over fifty homes in the Town of Souris and surrounding area. Dad was a superb craftsman and cabinetmaker and his childrens homes are full of his handcrafted furniture. Dad spent twenty-seven years as a volunteer with the Souris Fire Department and ambulance service. After retirement Dad filled his days with traveling and gardening. He was best known for his flowers. He spent many hours tending to his gardens, which he took great pride in. In keeping with dads wishes, cremation has taken place. A funeral mass was held at St. Marys Catholic Church with interment of the ashes in the Souris & Glenwood Cemetery. Dad will be deeply missed. Thanks for all the years and happy family memories you gave us. We will miss you more each day. God took you in his care and home to rest.
